Visual Studio 2013 – AutoUpdateProjectsMinimumRequiredClickOnceVersion and the Workspace Reloader extension.

As I’m trying to use the¬†AutoUpdateProjectsMinimumRequiredClickOnceVersion extension as per this article it notes that you should use the Workspace Reloader extension to prevent issues when the workspace is modified outside of Visual Studio.

Here’s the problem: The Workspace Reloader extension does not work with Visual Studio 2013 or above. It also appears the project has been abandoned.

There is an easy fix though.

  1. Open the .vsix file using a zip program (I used 7-zip).
  2. Edit the extension.vsixmanifest file.
  3. Add the following lines for VS2013:

    <VisualStudio Version=”12.0″>
    <Edition>Ultimate</Edition>
    <Edition>Premium</Edition>
    <Edition>Pro</Edition>
    </VisualStudio>

    or for Visual Studio 2015:

    <VisualStudio Version=”14.0″>
    <Edition>Ultimate</Edition>
    <Edition>Premium</Edition>
    <Edition>Pro</Edition>
    </VisualStudio>

  4. Save the file and install the extension.
